Newbury images club are celebrating their 75 years +1 anniversary with an exhibition, opening on September 18.
The inaugural assembly of Newbury images club â€" previously Newbury and District digital camera club â€" was held at 7pm on Thursday, February 1, 1945, on the Tudor Café in Newbury (103 Northbrook highway) owned by membership stalwart Jack gap.
The café remained the domestic of the membership for half a century, except it moved to the Conservative club, then to Shaw Social club and now its new home on the Royal British Legion. The subscription in 1945 changed into 10/- every year, with an extra can charge of 2/6 per evening (£5.50 today) payable to the Tudor Café for room appoint.
