SZA has spoken out about how she decided to show down a photoshoot after the magazine wouldn’t employ a Black photographer.
Taking to Twitter, the damaged Clocks singer printed, ‘I requested a black photographer for a cover n the mag informed me no lol its 2021.. and very nearly Juneteenth. Respectfully i can’t do it.’
When requested whether she would identify the magazine in question, 31-12 months-ancient SZA declined, explaining, ‘Das not my vibe however there’s TOO many elite black creatives rn to not permit it.’
In a separate tweet, SZA praised three other publications â€" Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan and Wonderland â€" for using Black photographers for fresh cover shoots, emphasising, ‘gotta celebrate when it’s right too !’
SZA’s long-established tweet has been appreciated more than ninety seven,000 times at the time of writing, with many of her followers praising her for taking a stand.
The respectable Twitter account for Black ladies Photographers tweeted, ‘It’s 2021!’, urging SZA to ‘Hit them with our directory’.
